Lott has committed to New York University, her top choice, she said. The college admissions scandal that made headlines over the past two years came to a close this week as the last celebrity parent was released from prison. Fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli is now on house arrest after his role in the 2019 college admissions scandal, according to The Associated Press . He was released from a federal facility in Lompoc, near Santa Barbara, California, and will remain in home confinement until April 17. He reported to prison in November. This comes after the recent release of Netflix’s Operation Varsity Blues , which detailed how famous and moneyed parents paid to have applications, exam scores and transcripts fixed and fabricated, including wildly exaggerated stories of sports abilities. Third Parent Pleads Guilty in College Admissions Scheme
BOSTON - A California executive has pleaded guilty to charges that he paid $400,000 in bribes to get his son into Georgetown University. Stephen Semprevivo pleaded guilty Tuesday in Boston federal court. He is the third parent to plead guilty in the vast college admissions bribery scheme. Authorities say Semprevivo gave $400,000 to an admissions consultant who paid off then-Georgetown tennis coach Gordon Ernst for pretending Semprevivo's son was a team recruit. Ernst has pleaded not guilty to accepting $2.7 million in bribes to designate at least 12 applicants as recruits. Semprevivo is an executive at Agoura Hills-based Cydcor, which provides companies with outsourced sales teams. Semprevivo's attorney, Steven Boozang, declined to comment.
