New Delhi: Bharti Airtel unveiled a new corporate structure that will see it hold all digital assets, while moving the telecom businesses into a newly created unit, Airtel Ltd. The move sharpens the Sunil Mittal-led entity’s focus on digital operations and helps monetise them. The new structure will also remove telecom regulatory overhang on Airtel’s digital businesses and reduce statutory liabilities related to its mobility business. “The new structure envisages Airtel Digital Ltd folding into the listed entity, Bharti Airtel,” said a company statement on Wednesday. This will encompass Wynk Music , Airtel Xstream, Airtel Thanks app, Mitra payments platform, Airtel Ads, Airtel IQ, Airtel Secure , Airtel Cloud and all future digital products and services. “The digital ambition of Bharti Airtel is closely intertwined with the spine that connectivity provides across the country. Robinhood failed to disclose certain trade executions to public feed:Report
Retail brokerage Robinhood Financial did not report a certain type of stock trade it executed for customers last year to a public data feed, according to regulatory data analyzed by Reuters and a source familiar with the matter. So-called fractional shares are offered by many brokerages. They let investors buy a slice of a share instead of the whole thing, so rather than forking out more than $3,000 on a share of Amazon.com Inc , an investor can buy as little as $1 worth. Brokerages are required to report all their trades to trade execution facilities (TRFs), according to Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission rules. FINRA's enforcement has fined other brokerages, including Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank AG 's U.S. securities division, for violations of its reporting and supervisory rules in the past. Robinhood launched its fractional share service in December 2019, according to its website, but only began … [Read more...] about Robinhood failed to disclose certain trade executions to public feed:Report
Massachusetts regulators seek to revoke Robinhood’s license; brokerage sues
Massachusetts regulators sought the revocation of Robinhood 's broker-dealer license after charging that it encourages inexperienced investors to place risky trades without limits, while the online brokerage sued to invalidate a new rule underlying the case. Massachusetts Secretary of State Bill Galvin sought the revocation in a revised administrative case announced shortly after Robinhood sued in state court in Boston to challenge a fiduciary standard of conduct his office adopted last year. Robinhood, which is seeking to go public through an initial public offering, in a blog post called the regulator "elitist" and said it was seeking to "reinstate the financial barriers that Robinhood was founded to break down." Galvin announced the case against Menlo Park, California-based Robinhood in December, before the social media-driven rally in stocks like GameStop, driven by retail investors using Robinhood and other apps, drove up their shares' prices. Galvin, the state's top … [Read more...] about Massachusetts regulators seek to revoke Robinhood’s license; brokerage sues
U.S. treatment of migrants and refugees on trial in Canadian court
She knocked on Canada’s door and begged for protection. Instead, she was turned away, handcuffed and jailed — and no one even cared to ask her why she fled her native Burundi. Then, in a cold cell at Clinton Correctional Facility in upstate New York, she was handed a flimsy prison jumpsuit and put in solitary confinement while waiting for the results of a mandatory TB test. Behind two panes of glass, she ate, slept and used the toilet in plain sight of the guards and anyone walking by. She was held for 51 days. More than four years after the “horrific” detention experience she said still haunts her, this asylum seeker and others like her who were turned away by Canada at the Canada-U.S. border will finally have their day in court to explain why they feel the United States is not a safe country for refugees. Starting Monday in Toronto, the Federal Court of Canada will hear a constitutional challenge to the Canada-U.S. Safe Third Country Agreement , under which both countries … [Read more...] about U.S. treatment of migrants and refugees on trial in Canadian court

Migrants protesting against the military junta in Myanmar hold a picture of leader Aung San Suu Kyi, during a candlelight vigil at a Buddhist temple in Bangkok. (Photo: Reuters) The Myanmar junta's brutal military repression against anti-coup demonstrators and airstrikes against innocent villages near the Thai border between March 27 and 30 has prompted acute rebukes and trade sanction threats from the international community. Concerns of civil war risks loom as pro-democracy protesters and ethnic armed groups vow to fight back, putting Myanmar on the verge of an economic collapse after enjoying economic growth of between 5.9% to 7.3% from 2015 and 2019. The World Bank late last month slashed Myanmar's economic outlook this year to a contraction of 10%, a sharp reversal from the bank's previous economic update in October of 5.9% growth in 2021, one of the strongest rates of expansion in the region. Earlier in February, a report by Fitch Solutions warned the political … [Read more...] about Neighbourly neglect
