Donald Trump ‘Very Seriously’ Considering 2024 Run, Misses ‘Helping People’

· April 20, 2021 ·

Former President Donald Trump is "very seriously" considering another bid for the White House in 2024, claiming he misses being able to directly help people from the Oval Office. In an interview with Fox News on Monday night, Trump said he had "tremendous numbers" and was "beyond seriously" looking at another run for the presidency in three years' time. But he said he didn't want to talk about a bid in detail yet. The former president also said he would help Republicans win the House of Representatives at the 2022 midterm elections, and said he believed the GOP had a "really good chance" of overturning the Democratic majority. Speaking to Fox News host Sean Hannity , Trump said: "We are going to help with the House. We have a really good chance. I'm working with everybody, including [House Republican leader] Kevin McCarthy on taking back the House. I think we have a really good chance on doing it." He added that he and his team would be ready to take part in rallies, … [Read more...] about Donald Trump ‘Very Seriously’ Considering 2024 Run, Misses ‘Helping People’

What Andrew Gutman Letter to Brearley School Decrying Anti-Racism Policies Said

· April 20, 2021 ·

A wealthy former investment banker who now heads up his own family's chemical business has written a scathing letter to one of the most expensive private schools in New York City, decrying its anti-racism policies. The letter was penned by Andrew Gutman, explaining why he pulled his daughter out of Brearley School, an all-girls private school in the Upper East Side neighborhood of Manhattan that charges $54,000 per year. Gutman sent the letter to nearly 600 families whose children are enrolled in the school, urging them to speak out against the college's "misguided" anti-racism policies and "cancel culture that has of late permeated our society." A number of celebrities have sent their daughters to the school, including Chelsea Clinton , Tina Fey, Drew Barrymore and Steve Martin. Gutman called for the school's "obsession with race" to stop and that the institution had "completely lost its way." Andrew Gutman full letter: Dear Fellow Brearley Parents, Our family … [Read more...] about What Andrew Gutman Letter to Brearley School Decrying Anti-Racism Policies Said

Colorado Elections are a Home Run | Opinion

· April 19, 2021 ·

While I am thrilled that Colorado will host the 2021 Major League Baseball ( MLB ) All-Star Game, the anticipation and excitement of this announcement was tempered by the reason for MLB's decision to move the game from Atlanta to Denver—the new Georgia law that limits voting access and disproportionately impacts communities of color in the state. I am a Coloradan and a Rockies fan, but I am also a fierce believer in providing more Americans access to the ballot regardless of where they live and vote. Laws like the one in Georgia, and those under consideration by state legislatures across the country, seek to disenfranchise Americans based on the big lie that the 2020 election was stolen. Given the tremendous work the state of Colorado has done to expand voting access, earning us accolades from voting experts and our own citizens, I was disappointed to hear in the wake of MLB's decision, misleading and false claims asserting Colorado's voting laws are as restrictive as Georgia's. … [Read more...] about Colorado Elections are a Home Run | Opinion

The World Changed a Lot Since 1986. The Politics of Immigration Hasn’t | Opinion

· April 19, 2021 ·

In pursuing a bold agenda to tackle the pandemic, build new infrastructure and halt climate change, there is a futuristic feeling to the Biden administration's early policy blitz. But its immigration bill, is retro. It's not retrograde. It's just retrospective. In 1986, former President Ronald Reagan signed the last major overhaul of U.S. immigration law, the Immigration Reform and Control Act. IRCA, as it is known, increased border security, established penalties for employers that hired undocumented immigrants and legalized the status of about 3 million undocumented immigrants who entered the U.S. prior to 1982. "Future generations of Americans will be thankful for our efforts to humanely regain control of our borders and thereby preserve the value of one of the most sacred possessions of our people: American citizenship," Reagan said upon signing the legislation. Similarly, the Biden administration's bill grants legal status to millions of farmworkers, Dreamers who … [Read more...] about The World Changed a Lot Since 1986.
