Video Player Close GAZA, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Islamic Hamas movement said on Thursday it has released 45 prisoners from its jails in the Gaza Strip ahead of the general elections. The Hamas-run interior ministry said the release of the prisoners is "a goodwill gesture aimed to prepare a positive atmosphere for holding the general elections and ending 14 years of internal Palestinian division." In a statement, Hamas said the prisoners were arrested "for reasons that had caused harms to the local factions and their armed wings." It said there are no prisoners "arrested for their political views and opinion" in the Gaza Strip. On Monday, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Ishtaye called on Hamas to release political prisoners imprisoned in its jails in the Gaza Strip, saying that Hamas has to "release 80 political prisoners from its jails in the Gaza Strip." Paramount will be sending their biggest movies to the upcoming Paramount+ streaming service 45 days after their theatrical releases, the studio announced today during the ViacomCBS investor's day call. The slate includes blockbusters like A Quiet Place 2, Mission: Impossible 7, and the upcoming James Bond film, No Time To Die. Also announced were several new franchise installments that will debut directly on the streaming service like the latest Paranormal Activity movie and the upcoming Pet Sematary "origin story" movie, says The Hollywood Reporter . This assumes that these movies will, in fact, hit their currently scheduled theatrical releases after multiple COVID-19 related delays. A Quiet Place 2 was originally slated for theaters last March but was bumped to September 17, 2021. Ta Cong Huy, head of Lao Cai province’s Steering Committee on Disaster Prevention and Rescue, described how heavy snow spread to Sa Pa and Bat Xat districts on January 11. A thick layer of snow between 10cm and 20cm rapidly developed and badly impacted livestock breeding. By January 11, approximately 93 hectares of flower and vegetable plantation had been covered in snow, leading to 1,050 pots of orchid flowers being destroyed and 45 buffaloes killed in Lao Cai province. In total the cold weather caused losses in excess of VND2 billion, and the figure is set to increase as the extreme cold spell is forecast to continue over the coming days, Huy noted. Experiencing another culture overseas is off the cards at the moment but next weekend Taranaki residents will be able to experience the world in their own backyard. The 27th Taranaki Multi Ethnic Extravaganza will be at the New Plymouth Racecourse from 11.30am to 4.30pm on March 6. There will be a gold coin entry. The event is run each year by the Taranaki Multi Ethnic Council (TMEC) to celebrate unity and the diversity of the traditions that contribute to the cultural tapestry of the Taranaki region, vice president Lance Mepham said.
