A man from the southern Vietnamese province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau has been arrested for murdering and raping a five-year-old girl last weekend. The provincial Department of Public Security confirmed on Monday it had apprehended and initiated legal proceedings against Pham Van Dung, 46, for killing and raping an under 16-year-old person. The victim was P.N.Q.N., Dung’s five-year-old neighbor. Police investigation showed that Dung went to the house of T.A., who is a neighbor, to attend the death anniversary of the latter’s family member on Saturday evening. Dattabapu Ghule, known as ‘Aapla manus’, takes up self-sponsored fumigation in Mohammadwadi area This is the story of a man lovingly called ‘Aapla manus’. Hailing from a very humble background, Dattabapu Pandurang Ghule (45) of Mohammadwadi area was distressed with the rising number of COVIDpositive cases in his area. He was part of a delegation that recently requested the Hadapsar ward office to sanitise the neighbourhood as frequently as possible. Turned away, Ghule, a man known locally for his relentless voluntary services, took matters in his hands. Dusting off an unused crop fumigation pump in his house, he bought chemicals suggested by a local chemist and for the last fortnight has been sanitising every nook and crevice of a 5-kmradius area. North Rhine-Westphalia's State Premier Armin Laschet is set to be the Christian Democratic Union's (CDU) candidate for chancellor in September's election after over a week of tortuous wrangling with the leader of the Christian Social Union (CSU) Markus Söder . Nguyen Quoc Lam, 38, is being investigated under charges of "rape of a person aged under 16", said Pham That, deputy director of the Binh Thuan police department. Lam’s housekeeper often worked for his family in the central province’s Lien Huong Town. As the housekeeper and her daughter are homeless, the daughter often slept at Lam’s while her mother slept on the street. On April 17, as the housekeeper entered the house to start work, she heard her daughter’s cries. Rushing to her aid, she said, she saw Lam raping the girl, and so decided to inform the police. Lam ran away immediately after. Police eventually managed to track him down at a relative’s house in Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Binh District, where he was arrested.
