Dattabapu Ghule, known as ‘Aapla manus’, takes up self-sponsored fumigation in Mohammadwadi area This is the story of a man lovingly called ‘Aapla manus’. Hailing from a very humble background, Dattabapu Pandurang Ghule (45) of Mohammadwadi area was distressed with the rising number of COVIDpositive cases in his area. He was part of a delegation that recently requested the Hadapsar ward office to sanitise the neighbourhood as frequently as possible. Turned away, Ghule, a man known locally for his relentless voluntary services, took matters in his hands. Dusting off an unused crop fumigation pump in his house, he bought chemicals suggested by a local chemist and for the last fortnight has been sanitising every nook and crevice of a 5-kmradius area. Living with his mother, wife and son in a tiny house, Ghule walks around every three days fumigating the neighbourhood. North Rhine-Westphalia's State Premier Armin Laschet is set to be the Christian Democratic Union's (CDU) candidate for chancellor in September's election after over a week of tortuous wrangling with the leader of the Christian Social Union (CSU) Markus Söder . Laschet has led the CDU since mid-January , and t he 60-year-old is now expected to win the election for the CDU/CSU conservative alliance and succeed Angela Merkel this year. Lagos inaugurates 6-Man governing board for alternative high school for girls

The moves aimed at promoting the growth of both formal and informal education in the state. The state government, therefore, in demonstration of its commitment to full implementation of its mass literacy policy, charged the board to ensure that the school continues to excel in all its activities while sustaining its current impressive standard. Traders worried over poor arrival of mangoes

Salem is synonymous with mangoes and though the mango season has begun, the market is yet to see huge arrival from farms. April-June is considered the major season for mangoes and produce from various parts of the Salem and neighbouring districts such as Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri are brought here for sales. According to traders, mangoes from Salem are sent to various parts of the country and also exported to countries such Sri Lanka, Singapore and Malaysia. Though there is good price for the fruit at the moment, there isn’t sufficient quantity at the market. A. Jayapal, president of the Salem Mango and Fruits Merchants Association, said that only 200 kg of different varieties of mangoes reach market these days. “Only 200 kg of mangoes reach the market on a day now and it caters only to local sales. García, Arihara Lift Rangers Over Angels 6-4

(AP) — Adolis García homered and doubled off Dylan Bundy, Kohei Arihara took a shutout into the sixth inning and the Texas Rangers got their offense on track in a 6-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Monday night. Texas eclipsed its entire output during a three-game home series against Baltimore over the weekend, when it totaled just four runs. Justin Upton homered for the Angels, while Bundy (0-2) gave up five runs and seven hits and was knocked out the game during the Rangers’ five-run sixth inning. The right-hander had six strikeouts with two walks. Arihara (2-1), in his fourth major league start, retired Angels star Shohei Ohtani in two at-bats, although one was a deep fly to center that García caught while crashing into the padded wall.
