Samsung unveils new Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ phones; does away with the headphone jack

Another one bites the dust as Samsung revealed it has scrapped the 3.5mm headphone jack from the Galaxy Note, the first of its flagship phone models not to have one. True to the recent leaks, the new Note 10 and Note 10+ phones will not be coming with audio ports and will instead have a single USB-C connection. The two smartphones – along with its respective 5G variant models – were unveiled at the tech giant’s Unpacked event held at the Barclay’s Centre in New York on Wednesday (Aug 7). Samsung Galaxy Note 10, Note 10+ phones available in Singapore on Aug 24

SINGAPORE: Samsung’s latest smartphones, the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ will be available in Singapore stores from Aug 24, the company announced on Thursday (Aug 8). Prices for the new phones start at S$1,398. The Galaxy Note 10 will be available in two colours - Aura Glow and Aura Black. The Galaxy Note 10+ models will come in the same colours, as well as Aura White. Pre-orders for the new flagship phones will begin on Thursday at 3pm, said the tech giant in a media release. India’s crude steel output grew 7.6% to 10 million tonne in Jan: worldsteel

crude steel production at 10 million tonnes (MT) in January 2021, according to the World Steel Association ( worldsteel ). The country had produced 9.3 MT crude steel during the same month last year. "The production for the 64 countries reporting to the worldsteel was 162.9 MT in January 2021, registering a 4.8 per cent increase compared to January 2020," the global industry body said in its latest report. China remained the global leader in production of steel in January, registering 6.8 per cent year-on-year growth in output at 90.2 MT during the month. According to worldsteel data, China had produced 84.3 MT steel in the same month last year. Last month, Japan's output slipped 3.9 per cent to 7.9 MT year-on-year. The US produced 6.9 MT steel in the month under review. Its output was at 7.7 MT in January 2020. Russia's output last month was at 6.7 MT compared to 6 MT in January 2020. 10 fined for gathering in Sengkang flat during circuit breaker to eat, drink, game and watch Netflix

SINGAPORE: During the COVID-19 "circuit breaker" period when social gatherings were prohibited, 16 people allegedly went to a flat in Sengkang owned by two friends for a gathering lasting several hours, making such noise that a neighbour called the police. Ten of the guests were fined between S$2,500 and S$3,000 on Wednesday (Aug 5), with two guests who stayed the longest given the heftier fine. If they cannot pay the fine, they will have to serve either 10 days' jail or 12 days' jail. They pleaded guilty to one charge each of meeting people not from their households for a social purpose, with a second charge of leaving their flats without reasonable excuse during the pandemic taken into consideration.
