Well, it's over. WandaVision Episode 9, "The Series Finale," is streaming now on Disney+, and no matter what else you may have thought about it, the final chapter was at least full of Easter eggs and references for us to break down. If that's what you're interested in, go ahead and keep scrolling. If you haven't watched the episode yet, what are you doing here? There are going to be way too many spoilers. Of course, there's a lot to say about the episode itself, and we have no doubt that fans are going to be divided on this one. On one hand, it provided closure and emotional payoff for Wanda and Vision's story so far throughout the MCU, and it was fantastic to spend so much time with these normally secondary Avengers (compared with the likes of Iron Man and Captain America, at least). On the other hand, this episode left a lot of dangling threads that may or may not be picked up down the road in future MCU movies and shows. Plus, the Evan Peters casting turned out to be a red … [Read more...] about WandaVision Episode 9: 18 Easter Eggs And Comic Book References In “The Series Finale”
With WandaVision's first and likely only season of TV now over, all eyes are on the upcoming debut of Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+ , which stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, reprising the roles they have played elsewhere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Interestingly, though, Falcon and Winter Soldier is only six episodes long, compared to WandaVision's nine installments. According to Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, however, there's a reason for that. Appearing at the TCA winter press tour, Feige addressed the season lengths of all of the upcoming MCU shows. "Six hours is what we've sort of landed on as, the best way to tell our stories," he explained. "Six hours, whether it's six episodes as it is in the case of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, nine shorter episodes as it is with WandaVision, is just what we landed on early." Of course, money also plays an issue. After all, while standard network shows can have as many as 24 episodes in a single season … [Read more...] about Why Disney+’s Falcon And The Winter Soldier Has Fewer Episodes Than WandaVision
Source: Disney Plus/Marvel Studios Last week, the new hit sitcom WandaVision revealed to its many fans [spoilers ahead] that Kathryn Hahn’s character Agatha was the big bad. The show did that with an infectious song that immediately swept the internet and then got stuck in everyone’s heads, like it or not. Fans are known for being passionate about the things they love and spending a lot of time thinking about those things, but they often don’t think much about the impact of the music in their favorite shows and films. That music is an integral part of telling the story and why those stories resonate — and there’s some psychological research behind that. In the case of "Agatha All Along," the impact was so striking that the song went viral, with one fan posting a YouTube video revealing that part of the music had actually been playing in various sitcom themes on the show since the start, in a kind of meta hint as to what was coming. That analysis of the recurring motif … [Read more...] about Why Is That Song Stuck In Your Head?
Everybody is under more pressure today. Most managers are under even more pressure. Plus, your manager probably moved into a supervisory position because they are very good at something, but not necessarily because they are especially good at managing people. If your manager is like most, they received very little in the way of effective management training. Meanwhile, the pendulum of management thinking, books, and training has also swung in the wrong direction, toward hands-off management. Popular books have naively insisted that employees do their best work when they are free to manage themselves. According to this “false empowerment” approach, employees should “own” their work and be free to make their own decisions. Managers are merely facilitators; they should not tell employees how to do their jobs, but rather let them come up with their own methods. Make employees feel good inside and results will take care of themselves. But let’s face it. You know very well that … [Read more...] about How to Help Your Manager Manage You
