SINGAPORE - A virtual Tamil Language Festival is set to run from Nov 28 to Dec 20 this year, with 25 online programmes ranging from storytelling to dramas and musicals available through Zoom and Facebook. Spearheaded by the Tamil Language Council (TLC), the virtual festival is open to all ages and promotes the Tamil language in Singapore. The TLC has organised the festival since 2007 with partner organisations. Originally scheduled to run in April this year, the festival was postponed due to Covid-19. Chairman of the Tamil Language Council, Mr S Manogaran, said: "Our partners have worked hard to adapt to new ways of programming, so we can continue to engage everyone in celebrating the richness of our Tamil language. We hope the community will be inspired and continue to use the Tamil language for many more generations to come." This year's festival features six new partners. Suzanne Shaw has opened up about the "dark days" of her battle with depression and anxiety over the past 20 years. The 39-year-old former Emmerdale actress and singing star with Hear'Say has spoken about how she has "struggled" with some low points during the past two decades. Suzanne, who played Eve Jenson in the ITV soap, told Runner's World magazine she gave up alcohol for a year and has since got rid of the feeling of "self-loathing" she had before. Construction Worker Hurt In 15-To-20 Foot Fall From Steel Beam In Needham
NEEDHAM (CBS) — A construction worker fell 15-20 feet off of a steel beam at the Public Safety Complex in Needham on Friday. It happened around 8:30 a.m., according to the Needham Fire Chief Dennis Condon. “They’re putting up steel in the Public Safety Complex on the police wing and he was part of that process. He was on a piece of steel and he fell into the pit,” said Condon. Crews had to load the worker onto a stretcher and pulled the stretcher up using ropes. The worker was med-flighted to a Boston hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
