Singaporean student caught on livestream being attacked by man with knife in London

· April 20, 2021 ·

SINGAPORE, April 20 (The Straits Times/ANN): A Singaporean student was attacked by a man wielding a knife, who tried to steal his bicycle on a London street. Raymond Hing, 21, was left with a cut on his face after being knocked to the ground while cycling in Leicester Square at about 1am. His ordeal was recorded by British YouTuber Sherwin, who helped fend off his attacker. Sherwin, known only by his first name, was live-streaming his walk around central London on April 10 when he heard Hing's screams for help. In the video, which has since been viewed 155,000 times, he can be seen rushing to help the student, who is sprawled on the ground and bleeding from the cut on his face. The attacker is seen making a desperate lunge for Hing's bicycle before walking away as more bystanders gather. Hing is seen screaming for help and saying "call the police" multiple times. More than a week on from the attack, he said: "I have recuperated and I am feeling better - still alive and … [Read more...] about Singaporean student caught on livestream being attacked by man with knife in London

Vladimir Putin bulks up Russian forces in Ukraine by sending huge column of tanks to Ukrainian border

· March 24, 2017 ·

An army of Russian tanks were filmed thundering towards the Ukrainian border this week as tensions between the warring countries continued to escalate. Dozens of Vladimir Putin's modern tanks were seen arriving at a railroad station in Pokrovskoye in the Russia's southern Rostov region. The tanks were moved from cargo train platforms and deployed in a field near Matveyev Kurgan village - just 10km from the border with Ukraine. Russia regularly holds military drills in Rostov region involving its infantry, artillery and air force and has a number of military bases in the area. Earlier this week Russian politician Denis Voronenkov was shot by a gunman at the entrance of an upmarket hotel in Kiev, Ukraine, after fleeing his homeland last year. Images from the scene outside the hotel showed his wife, Maria Maksakova, breaking down as she saw her husband's body still on the pavement. Mr Voronenkov was killed around noon (10.00am GMT) and his bodyguard was also injured … [Read more...] about Vladimir Putin bulks up Russian forces in Ukraine by sending huge column of tanks to Ukrainian border

Knife-edge F1 battle risks Red Bull/Mercedes development war

· April 20, 2021 ·

The two teams have taken a victory apiece so far this year, with Lewis Hamilton winning the season opener in Bahrain and Max Verstappen triumphing at Imola last weekend. With very little to choose in performance terms between the two cars, both teams are continuing to push hard to improve their packages as much as possible. However, with F1 teams knowing they need to commit as much resource as possible to developing the all-new 2022 challenger, there will soon come a point where they will have to decide when to abandon the current project. Red Bull motorsport advisor Marko reckons, however, that one of the consequences for his team and Mercedes if things remain as close is that both will have to keep pushing on beyond the point that is ideal to stop. He is clear that Red Bull needs to knuckle down and do everything to win the title, which is why he welcomes the buzz the team's form has delivered. "We need this euphoria, and also the passion and enthusiasm," he … [Read more...] about Knife-edge F1 battle risks Red Bull/Mercedes development war

· April 9, 2021 ·

These pictures show the dramatic moment a suspect in the alleged murder of one of Britain's richest men was arrested after a car crash. The arrest occurred 100 miles from the £2 million country home where property tycoon Sir Richard Lexington Sutton, an 83-year-old Baronet, and a woman, aged in her 60s, were stabbed on Wednesday night. Armed police are said to have brought a Range Rover to a 'hard stop' in Chiswick, west London, after tracking the vehicle across five counties. Officers then began treating the injured driver on a pavement, with one seen carrying a defibrillator, until paramedics arrived to take over and transport the man to hospital, a witness said. They Hacked McDonald’s Ice Cream Machines—and Started a Cold War

· January 4, 2021 ·

Of all the mysteries and injustices of the McDonald’s ice cream machine, the one that Jeremy O’Sullivan insists you understand first is its secret passcode. Press the cone icon on the screen of the Taylor C602 digital ice cream machine, he explains, then tap the buttons that show a snowflake and a milkshake to set the digits on the screen to 5, then 2, then 3, then 1. After that precise series of no fewer than 16 button presses, a menu magically unlocks. Only with this cheat code can you access the machine’s vital signs: everything from the volume of its milk and sugar ingredients to the temperature of the glycol flowing through its heating element to the meanings of its many sphinxlike error messages. “No one at McDonald’s or Taylor will explain why there’s a secret, undisclosed menu," O’Sullivan wrote in one of the first, cryptic text messages I received from him earlier this year. As O’Sullivan says, this menu isn’t documented in any owner’s manual for the Taylor digital … [Read more...] about They Hacked McDonald’s Ice Cream Machines—and Started a Cold War
