The Pac-12 produced fewer NFL Draft selections than it has in eight years and less than half as many as the SEC. It trailed the Big Ten and ACC by large margins, as well. On the surface, the weekend couldn’t have gone much worse. But in the year of COVID, the surface is a fraught place to be. To cast final judgment on the Pac-12’s overall performance in Cleveland, a hefty dose of context is required. The 28 total selections represent the fewest since the 2013 draft and a 12.5 percent year-over-year decrease. However, the Pac-12 had substantially fewer players in the draft. Following the truncated season, a plethora of upperclassmen took advantage of the free year of eligibility and opted to return to school for 2021. As a result, the pool of available prospects dropped from 57 in last year’s draft to 43 this weekend, according to the master list of players on NFL.com. Put another way: The conference had 25 percent fewer players in the draft but only 12.5 percent fewer … [Read more...] about NFL Draft winners and losers: The Pac-12 perspective (it’s not as bad as it looks)

By Nitin Tuli Does India want to be just a user market of electric vehicles (EVs) or does it aspire to be an EV manufacturing and export hub? I think this question should be the pivot of the vision of policymakers at the government of India and NITI Aayog . Promoting EVs in India for reducing carbon emission footprints or bringing down dependence on fossil fuels for saving foreign exchange should not be the only purpose. Instead policy makers should boost the ecosystem of EVs in India by promoting manufacturing, domestic consumption and exports. This will contribute to higher revenue collection through GST, export duties and will propel employment and economic progress in the country. This can be further elaborated from the example of M&M, Bengaluru, that is manufacturing electric three-wheelers. It has not yet started production of its electric sedan. This kind of situation could be avoided if it had built the eco-system for building EVs that have demand both in … [Read more...] about Opinion: Is COVID-19 an opportunity for Indian EV industry for domestic and export growth?
Republicans slammed Facebook Wednesday for continuing former President Trump’s suspension from the site, calling it “the least surprising news ever” and “disgraceful.” “In the least surprising news ever, the Facebook oversight board has decided Facebook was completely right and correct to ban Donald Trump. Facebook investigated Facebook and found Facebook innocent,” Allum Bokhari tweeted. Former Ole Miss guard Terence Davis was traded from the Toronto Raptors to the Sacramento Kings in March. Davis admitted he was reluctant to initiate offense early on with his new team. He attempted double-digit shots only once in his first six games, when he scored 27 points on 10 for 14 from the floor, including 7 for 10 from three in a loss at Minnesota April 5. Lately, though, Davis has been more assertive, especially following a season-ending injury to rookie guard Tyrese Haliburton. Davis has put up at least 12 shots in two of the last four games, scoring in double figures in both. The Kings, who’ve won four straight, close out a four-game road trip at Indiana Wednesday night. They’re still mathematically alive for the playoffs, though BPI gives them just a 12 percent chance of sneaking into the play-in tournament. Most likely, they’ll extend a playoff drought that dates back to 2006 and head to the NBA Draft lottery for the 15th straight season. But in the little … [Read more...] about Former Ole Miss guard Terence Davis coming into his own with Sacramento Kings
close Video Former CIA officer slams ‘woke’ CIA ad: Enemies around world ‘are not woke’ Former CIA officer Bryan Dean Wright on the agency’s recruitment ad getting ridiculed for woke propaganda. The Central Intelligence Agency is always looking to recruit new agents and advertising is one way it has done so in the past. The difference this time is in a newly created series of recruitment videos that reflect the spirit of the age in which we live, rather than appealing to abilities and patriotism. super-secret agency has been infiltrated, not by spies from Russia, China, or Al Qaeda, but rather a subtler and nearly invisible enemy. America's foremost intelligence agency . CIA video features a Latina officer who identifies as a "cisgender millennial." Even the word "cisgender" is so new that my spellcheck does not (yet) recognize it. The video is part of a new series called "Humans of CIA" designed to attract a more "diverse pool of candidates." … [Read more...] about Cal Thomas: Will CIA soon stand for ‘Central Insanity Agency’?
