The city of Los Angeles is giving itself 15 years to make the switch to 100% renewable energy. Construction of solar photovoltaic and wind power plants, development of heat pumps and electric cars are on the city's roadmap to achieve this goal. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has concluded that Los Angeles is capable of achieving 100% clean energy by 2035. The goal is to eliminate all fossil fuels from Los Angeles' power supply. To achieve this, the plan includes the mass construction of solar photovoltaic plants (also called "solar farms") and wind turbines. For instance by 2035, Los Angeles should no longer need natural gas to produce its electricity. Hydrogen could be a credible alternative, although it is still very expensive. Other technologies which are more affordable and proven, such as offshore wind turbines in the Pacific, are more likely to be used in the short term. Eric Holder Charged With Nipsey Hussle Murder – Update
UPDATED, 1:55 PM: Los Angeles County prosecutors have charged Eric Holder with the murder of L.A. rapper Nipsey Hussle . Holder was charged Thursday with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. He is being held on $7 million bail, and is expected to appear in court Thursday afternoon. Holder faces a possible maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted. PREVIOUS, April 2: Police have arrested their prime suspect in the shooting death of Los Angeles rapper Nipsey Hussle. Officers got a tip from a citizen who reported “seeing a person they believed to be Eric Holder” in the 9900 block of Artesia Boulevard in Bellflower. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded and detained the man. South Bureau Homicide detectives then went to the Lakewood Sheriff’s Station and confirmed that he was their suspect. UPDATED AT 8PM WITH DETAILS ON SHOOTING : Los Angeles police are reporting one person was killed and three others sustained injuries during a shooting incident at today’s funeral procession for slain rapper/entrepreneur Nipsey Hussle . The long-procession, which took place after the late rapper’s Staples Center memorial service , saw the streets lined with people paying respects. The shooting occurred around 6:25 p.m. in the area of 103rd and Main streets, the LAPD said in a press release. The victims were three men and one woman, all between ages 30-50, LAPD Chief Michel Moore added on Twitter. No information was available on which victim died.
