PENNSYLVANIA— U.S. News & World Report has released its new hospital rankings for 2019-2020, which identify the best country's hospitals in specialty care and the top facilities by region. Boris Johnson to visit new Tory seats in north-east England
Boris Johnson is to visit the north-east of England as part of an election victory lap, meeting Conservative MPs who ousted Labour rivals from their seats in former “red wall” heartlands. The prime minister hailed his “stonking mandate” after he secured an 80-seat majority in Thursday’s election, with many Tory gains coming in areas across the north and the Midlands, including Bishop Auckland which had never elected a Tory MP before. Speaking outside No 10 on Friday, Johnson said he would “work round the clock” to repay the trust of those who voted Conservative for the first time. His comments were later echoed by Robert Jenrick, the housing secretary, who said the government planned to redirect investment towards those communities that felt they were not being heard. “We are very grateful to these traditional Labour voters, in many cases, for lending us their support on this occasion, perhaps because of Brexit,” Jenrick told … [Read more...] about Boris Johnson to visit new Tory seats in north-east England
Scotland exit poll predicts SNP will wipe out Labour with big-name general election casualties
Labour is on a knife edge in Scotland with a total collapse of their vote predicted by an early exit poll. The NOP/MORI poll for the BBC, ITV and Sky predicted the SNP would win all but one of the Scotland's 59 seats in the election. That would represent a loss of more than 40 seats for Labour and condemn Ed Miliband to defeat in his bid to become Prime Minister. And it would put several key figures - including Scottish Labour leader Jim Murphy himself - in peril of losing their seats. A second poll for YouGov suggested the Nationalists would gain 48 of the 59 seats, offering Labour a crumb of comfort. Sturgeon said Scotland's political future was in the hands of the people after voting in Glasgow with husband and SNP chief executive Peter Murrell. Archbishop of Canterbury speaks of persecution of Middle East Christians
The archbishop of Canterbury has spoken of the suffering and persecution of Christians and others in the Middle East, saying he has heard voices of anger, fear and insecurity while on a 12-day trip to the Holy Land. Justin Welby was preaching to a packed congregation at St George’s Anglican cathedral in Jerusalem on Sunday morning before being installed as an episcopal canon later in the day. In his 10-minute sermon, he said Christians in the region had belonged to a “suffering church for centuries. Sometimes life has been better, sometimes it is less bad. But the nature of suffering is that when it is happening it is all-consuming.” In the conflict zones of the Middle East, he said, every part of life was dominated by suffering. “That is true whether you are a Christian or not but in this region in addition to the suffering of war, conflict and the tragedies of death and injustice, Christians especially are experiencing persecution, are especially … [Read more...] about Archbishop of Canterbury speaks of persecution of Middle East Christians
