On the day one of his presidency on Wednesday, Biden sent a comprehensive immigration bill to Congress which proposes major overhauls to the system, including granting legal status and a path to citizenship to tens of thousands of undocumented immigrants and other groups and reduce the time that family members must wait outside the US for green cards. Called the US Citizenship Act of 2021, the legislation modernises the immigration system, and also proposes to eliminate the per country cap for employment-based green cards, a move that would benefit thousands of Indian IT professionals whose current wait period for legal permanent residency runs into several decades. Government formulating new action plan, Chinese telecom giants could be out of game
New Delhi: Chinese telecom giants Huawei and ZTE could be potentially out of the game in India with the government set to begin formulating an action plan on the implementation of 'National Security Directive on Telecommunication Sector'. With an aim to protect India's essential national security interests, a committee headed by the Deputy National Security Advisor (Dy NSA) will soon clear all equipment and gadgets, including 5G mobile networks and supply chains. Top sources in the government told IANS that "a meeting of nodal officials of key ministries was called (on January 21) to formulate a strategy to secure India's paramount interest in the field of cyber and telecom security".
