Di Resta rejoins United Autosports for Le Mans 24 Hours

· March 8, 2021 ·

Ex-Formula 1 driver di Resta was part of United's winning LMP2 line-up in the French endurance classic last year alongside his full-season FIA World Endurance Championship teammates Filipe Albuquerque and Phil Hanson. Hanson's promotion from a silver driver rating to gold over the winter forced United to change its line-up however, with ex-DTM driver Fabio Scherer replacing di Resta for 2021 . Now United has revealed it will be entering three Oreca 07 cars at Le Mans - taking up two auto-invites alongside its regular WEC car - and that di Resta will pilot its #23 car alongside two yet-to-be-named teammates. Nico Jamin, who will race for the squad in the European Le Mans Series this year, is the only confirmed driver in United's #32 car, while full-season WEC trio Albuquerque, Hanson and Scherer will share the #22 machine. “It’s great news to announce that we are going back to the 2021 Le Mans 24 Hours," commented di Resta, who last month was named as one of Peugeot's … [Read more...] about Di Resta rejoins United Autosports for Le Mans 24 Hours

People with disabilities demand access to information, basic rights during pandemic

· June 12, 2020 ·

“Sir/Ma’am, I’m deaf. I cannot read your lips because you’re wearing a mask. I’m here to withdraw my money. Please write down what I need to do. Thank you.” Widi Utami, 28, handed this handwritten note to a security guard when she arrived at a bank in Semarang, Central Java, on June 4. While she can usually read lips, with all the security guards and tellers covering their mouth with masks, she relies on notes. The security guard, Kurniawan, promptly nodded and wrote below the note, “How much do you want to withdraw?” Kurniawan accompanied Widi to the teller and stayed with her until she had finished taking her money, making sure she could communicate properly with the teller using handwritten notes. Widi shared her story on her twitter account @MustikaUngu expressing gratitude to Kurniawan for being so helpful. Her post went viral, with other deaf people sharing accounts of their experiences accessing public services during the “new normal”. Singer Armaan Malik tries to explain why ‘Butta Bomma’ went viral

· March 8, 2021 ·

When Armaan Malik finished recording ‘Butta Bomma’, he did not feel the electricity coursing through his veins or stars exploding in his gut. It was normal; like any other song recording, he says. He had no idea that the track, composed by S Thaman for the Allu Arjun starrer Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo , would be viewed over half a billion times on YouTube within a year of its release. ‘Viral’ is perhaps among the most liberally used words on the Internet. But should there be a benchmark? When Anirudh Ravichander and Dhanush’s ‘Why This Kolaveri Di?’ crossed over three million views on YouTube within a week of its release, it was a big moment in Tamil pop-culture. But that was 2011. Now, crossing a million views is common. However, you can’t find the right ingredients to make a song that will get 500 million views on YouTube like how ‘Butta Bomma’ did. On occasions, one gets a hunch if their creation will be popular. Dhanush predicted, based on the use of ‘Tanglish’ words and the … [Read more...] about Singer Armaan Malik tries to explain why ‘Butta Bomma’ went viral
