CBS Sports/Getty Images The NHL season is only a week old, and it is officially time to overreact. All measured analysis from the preseason is thrown out the window in the face of a two-game sample size. The Buffalo Sabres are undefeated and might be the best team in the NHL at the moment, and the New York Islanders are dead in the water after a winless start. In all seriousness, some teams did come out of the gates firing on all cylinders and others showed at least a little bit of cause for concern. After a somewhat surprising season last year, the Minnesota Wild picked up right where they left off, and the Florida Panthers are already racking up wins. On the other side of that coin, teams like the Chicago Blackhawks and Montreal Canadiens proved that they have some kinks to work out in this young season. Still, it’s far too early to panic at this point. With so few games to work with, the power rankings can see some wild swings, but we’re going to embrace some of the weirdness.
